Tjuvholmen (Thief Islet) used to be a haven for smugglers, thieves and scoundrels. Today, it is home to The Thief, a modern hideaway – right in the middle of downtown Oslo. If anything gets stolen there nowadays, it’s usually us stealing our guests away from their everyday lives.
The Thief has filled this retreat with top international art pieces, carefully selected designer furniture, global Nordic cuisine, a top quality spa and cosmopolitan bars. ‘Escapees’ are able to enjoy refreshing dips in the sea at the Tjuvholmen beach or stroll off the islet across the footbridge to the bustling Aker Brygge restaurant and business area. Most of our guests come here to get away from it all and for the relaxing atmosphere of THE THIEF.

Each of the 114 rooms, including the one-bedroom suites, “The Apparatjik Suite,” and the award-winning “Oslo Suite” is characterized by its individuality. Be it through the handpicked artwork, furnishings from world-renowned designers, or the latest technology, a timeless elegance comes together with cosmopolitan flair throughout the hotel. The nine-story building houses Standard, Superior, Deluxe, Premium Rooms and Junior Suites, each featuring balconies, some with views of the fjord and the canals of Tjuvholmen or the neighboring buildings and the Astrup Fearnley Museum of Contemporary Art. Standard King
There is nothing standard about The Thief, not even our Standard rooms. The same high quality runs throughout the hotel -- the comfort, efficiency and cleverly thought out layout of the rooms. We are sure you will enjoy the bedside light control, the balcony, the creative selection in our in-room shop, the full body mirrors by the door – or our little prank of having an extra pillow in the closet even though there are already nine pillows on the bed.
Superior King
Our 30-square meter superior rooms have the same sleek wooden floors and floor-to-ceiling windows of our standard rooms. They are just a little more spacious. Sometimes a little extra leg-room is just what you need to fully enjoy your hideaway on our little island in the city.
Deluxe King
Wake up to soothing views of the Oslo archipelago and the beautiful fjord. The stunning sea vistas from a private balcony could make you reluctant to ever leave your room. Should you decide to stay holed up in your little paradise, we’d be happy, of course, to bring your breakfast to your room.
Premium King

The Thief Suite
The spacious signature Thief Suite on the 8th floor is a true haven. It features two balconies facing the beautiful Oslofjord as well as the canals of Tjuvholmen. It also features two bathrooms and the possibility for an extension of two bedrooms.
The Oslo Suite
Our largest penthouse suite boasts a private rooftop terrace overlooking the Oslofjord. This is 94 square meters of pure delight. It includes a separate bedroom, a dining room and original artworks by Sir Peter Blake to give the Oslo Suite the feel of an exclusive private apartment, but with our hotel service staff to top it off.
