InterContinental Edinburgh The George is a collection of five, fine Georgian townhouses that were originally built in the 18th century, but the property has been a grand hotel - fondly known as “The George” - since 1881. Our Printing Press restaurant, originally a newspaper office and workshop, is open from breakfast and throughout the day serving lunch and dinner. The legacy of the capital’s rich literary heritage weaves throughout The Printing Press which gets its name from the link to Scotland’s prestigious publishing house, Oliphant, Anderson and Ferrier, founded by renowned writers from the late 1780s who were also residents at this address. An elegant dining environment includes authentic architectural restoration and quaint touches. Executive Chef, Colin Fleming, has been part of the Scottish restaurant scene for over 17 years and loves to make full use of seasonal Scottish produce for modern and traditional dishes that are bursting with flavors and character. Alongside The Printing Press restaurant, this welcoming watering hole and late-night bar is a beacon of hospitality and is not surprisingly, the winner of Cocktail Hotel Bar of the Year, Edinburgh at the Scottish Hotel Awards 2019.
