- 2 Rooms, 20 Suites
Situated in the heart of Tuscany, Relais Borgo Santo Pietro was once a healing stopover for medieval pilgrims. Today, it continues to provide a sanctuary for modern souls, merging a 5-star luxury hotel and spa concept with a ‘farm to plate’ philosophy on a 300-acre estate.
A sumptuous feeling of home pervades the 800-year-old luxury farmhouse hotel, with its worn leather armchairs pulled up around open fires, fresh flower arrangements picked straight from the garden, and weathered brick wine cellar lined with boutique labels. Each of the boutique hotel’s 20 rooms has been singularly designed down to the utmost thoughtful detail, with custom-sought antique pieces, bespoke beds and frescoes executed by hand.
Our rooms combine this intimate luxury with ultimate seclusion, as light-filled, airy interiors open onto Mediterranean courtyards dotted with sun lounges and fragrant citrus trees, or leafy private terraces with outdoor fireplaces beside private pools, lounge areas and entirely private gardens. Adjoining suites can also be connected internally to create an intimate shared interior for families or friends.

A sumptuous feeling of home pervades the 800-year-old luxury farmhouse hotel, with its worn leather armchairs pulled up around open fires, fresh flower arrangements picked straight from the garden and weathered brick wine cellar lined with boutique labels. Each of the boutique hotel’s 22 suites & rooms conveys its signature luxury experience of exquisite furnishings and chandeliers, antique art, bespoke beds, well-appointed bathrooms and a propinquity with nature. Whether the choice be a classic suite in the main 12th century villa, an exclusive suite with garden, or a seclusive villa with pool, the ethereal experience is designed for 5-star gratification and service.
Junior Suite Via del Pellegrino
Greeted with soft lavender scents and tinkling sounds of the garden fountain below, this is a room where the modern-day pilgrim can seek silence and refuge in the most beautiful of places. Its large fresco pays homage to the origins of the villa whereby medieval travelers on their way to Rome and the Holy Land sought recuperation and healing within Borgo Santo Pietro’s walls before venturing to San Galgano. Infused with a warm light, this corner suite overlooks the formal gardens below to the west.
The energy of the room is fluid, giving a contented sense of space. Light wood-beamed ceilings, a French marble fireplace, a crystal chandelier, and palate of soft colors further add to the tranquil atmosphere. This serene haven beckons you to reflect in its two fireside armchairs, unfurl your thoughts at its desk, sit and gaze from its window seats or unwind in its roll-top bath while enjoying the verdant views.
Suite Rinaldo di Sorciano
Entering through French doors at the villa’s courtyard, this suite is named after the thirteenth-century local parish priest who, according to popular history, gave Borgo’s onsite church to the Cistercian monks at the Abbey of San Galgano. This stately suite gleams with its inlaid wood furniture, elegant seating area, oil portraits, frescos, an open marble fireplace, heraldic motifs and French doors and windows on three sides. The light-filled interior emanates a feeling of noblesse with all with the comforts of modern-day style. This extends to the elegant bathroom, which features a double vanity carved in rare dark marble and a freestanding claw foot tub.
Beauty is the mantra here, as one inhales the perfume of lavender and roses while never wanting the moment to end.
Junior Garden Suite La Mora
The tranquility and classic elegance of La Mora will embrace any guest in need of a well-earned retreat in this private suite. Its interior exudes calm with its light luminous walls, the high white-washed ceiling beams, the French carved furnishings of gentle hue, the petite stone carved fireplace and its two sets of French doors on either side dressed in billowy curtains.
Behind glass-paned doors, the clawfoot bath in the middle of the bathroom beckons a relaxing soak. With natural light entering the suite from both the east and the west, the energy is soft and airy.
The suite further extends into the Mediterranean courtyard where sunbeds silently invite quiet repose, the gentle sounds of the fountain and the citrus aromas further enhancing the harmonious experience.
Garden Suite Maggiorana
Within the elegant private garden suite awaits a retreat of rich warm hues, stone walls, heavy oak beamed ceilings, flagstone floors, a carved four-poster bed, antique chests and stone-surround fires. The Maggiorana Suite exudes a sense of rustic grandeur and well-grounded energy. Beyond the suite’s double sets of French doors awaits the private garden which is walled and hedged in by variegated shrubs, complete with an outdoor fireplace and lounge suite on its private patio and an indulgent sanctuary on the shaded Moroccan day bed on the lawn. The room’s writing desks and well-appointed seating area and spacious bathroom further add to this haven of understated luxury.
Grand Suite Santo Pietro
Presiding over the full south wing of Borgo Santo Pietro’s thirteenth-century villa, the Santo Pietro offers a magnificent expanse of the countryside with uninterrupted views over the fields and vineyards of Valle Serena from its sweeping private terrace, stately windows and French doors. Nature and meditation merge as one here.
A sumptuous living area with high beamed Cathedral ceilings, furnished with antiques, chandeliers and rich upholstered drapes, invites elegant repose by the blazing fire or curled up on a chaise longue while looking over the valley. Up its stone carved stairs awaits a secluded mezzanine equipped with massage facilities enabling guests to enjoy a holistic therapy session without leaving the room. This grand salon with the hand painted motifs evokes its own magical aura. Guests may never want to move out.
Casa dei Fiori Bianchi Pool House / Pool Suite Casa dei Fiori Bianchi Destra and Sinistra
Designed as two separate suites that can be connected internally via the garden to form a single complex, each suite inside La Casa dei Fiori Bianchi Pool House is endowed with its own magnificent terrace and entirely private 36-m2 saltwater pool fitted with a jacuzzi and cascade for a touch of hydrotherapy massage.
Bordering the historical Pilgrims’ Path, each suite’s interior pays homage to the Knights Templar, who protected medieval pilgrims en route to the Holy Land, becoming ambassadors for cultural exchange, as evidenced in the villa’s aesthetic touches of medieval artworks, blazons painted above the fireplace and medallions carved in its stone surround. Through double rod-iron gates, the utmost level of privacy and ultimate retreat is maintained in the elegantly constructed La Casa dei Fiori Bianchi.
Within this private pool house, guests are able to cocoon themselves within the chic interiors of the sister suites. The living areas have relaxed country elegance.
Sir Vincent Deluxe Room
Located in the main villa with western views overlooking the formal gardens below and the hilltop town of Chiusdino in the distance, Sir Vincent exudes a sense of serenity. With its floor-to-ceiling murals of the pastoral Tuscan landscape, the mood is cozy and compact. Its drop-down antique secretary writing desk, reading chair, window seat and deep bath inspire a classic retreat in which to enjoy the tranquility of the environs.
Sir Vincent also offers the unique flexibility of a double bed that converts to a twin-bed sleeping arrangement.
San Galgano Deluxe Room
Adorned with its rich upholstery and decorous hand-painted mural of the life of San Galgano, this handsome room takes inspiration from the medieval knight-cum-hermit whose miraculous ‘sword in the stone’ is embedded at the nearby Chapel of Montesiepi. Located in the main villa, this light-filled room facing east towards the main entrance with its century-old olive tree, evokes quietude and reflection. Its limestone-clad bathroom creates a sense of natural restfulness in which to cloister oneself in the generously sized bath bordered by double windows to view the eastern fields beyond.
With its cozy reading nook and velvet cushions, two sitting chairs, antique writing desk and layers of rich texture, fabric and soft color, the room gives a quiet sense of harmony.
Giardin dei Fiori Junior Suite
With its imposing double sets of windows overlooking the villa’s formal flower gardens, this delicately hued room pays homage to the grace and aroma of nature. A luminous and soft energy suffuses its halcyon interior with floral and vine motifs, elegantly curved furniture, French carved stone fireplace, and an antique writing desk, to further inspire deep reflection and thoughts to journal.
The freestanding roll-top bath in the chandelier-clad bathroom invites a refreshing and indulgent soak while admiring the northern views from the large window.
Studio Badia Junior Suite
A handsome haven in which to attempt some serious reading or to sink into its quiet luxury, Studio Badia offers a meditative sanctuary of well-earned downtime. Its views overlook the formal flower gardens to the north with two proportional windows.
Adorned with a wall of bookshelves filled with old embossed books, framed historical maps, portraits of famous scholars, a writing desk, a rare Bordeaux marble fireplace and Baroque-style sofa, the essence of this room is warm, rich and grounded.
Valle Serena Suite
With its four imposing windows, this elegant suite overlooks panoramic views of the aptly named Valle Serena (Serene Valley) with its soothing palette and deeply restorative atmosphere permeating the room’s interior. In this opulent setting of tassels, velvet, paintings and silk, the invitation awaits to luxuriate in its chaise lounge by the window, to scribe away at its antique writing desk, or to quietly gaze at the wood burning marble fireplace from either its generous armchairs or the in-room slipper bath. The Valle Serena provides a classic and nurturing haven for both body and psyche.
Il Vecchio Forno Suite
Located off the main entrance and on the site of the 800-year-old bread oven from which it takes its name, Il Vecchio Forno exudes a character unlike any other suite. With its high beamed ceilings and large proportion, it exudes spaciousness. Views from the magnificent sweeping Valle Serena immediately greet you as its two large French doors welcome you to its large private terrace. Beautifully restored original stonework flanks its walls, lending a strong feeling of nature and balance.
Il Vecchio Forno features a glassed-in working fireplace in its former cavernous oven which is viewed from the large bed. It has its own kitchen area, a separate WC and sink, and a shower room with basins. Up its flight of stone steps on the mezzanine level is where an intimate lounge suite keeps company with a clawfoot bath overlooking the suite.
Valle Serena provides a panoramic sanctuary only a stone’s throw from Borgo’s evening buzz.
L'Ulivo Junior Garden Suite
L’Ulivo exudes a perfectly balanced mood as the symmetrical arch in its entrance suggests and as the gentle colors of the Mediterranean’s beloved olive tree are delineated in the luxurious furnishings, beamed wood ceiling and stone floors.
The graceful main room is proportional with a generous bed on one side and an elegant living area at the other end, with the refined fireplace in equal alignment with the two sets of French doors on either side. The natural Tuscan light arrives from both the east and the west reflecting off the crystal chandelier.
On one side of the arch is an enormous walk up to rectangular Roman bath in its own niche carved from a block of gleaming white marble overlooking the bed. On the other side of the suite is the bathroom with twin basins and a walk-in shower. The calm energy pervades every sense.
This harmonious retreat extends into a garden space where sun lounges await amid the heady scent of lemons.
Casa dell'Unicorno Garden Suite
Within the private garden suite, the beauty of La Casa dell’Unicorno is almost a magical meditation in itself similar to its namesake which derived from fictional legend describing Borgo Santo Pietro as the site of an enchanted unicorn garden. Lofty ceilings with exposed beams, twinkling chandeliers, hand painted unicorn images, a subtle palette of spring-like hues, a generous seating area around the fire and a four-poster bed create a dream-like experience in which to indulge.
The sense of expansiveness in the suite extends beyond the spacious living area through two French doors, to the beautifully walled-in manicured private garden with its fireside patio dining under a chandelier-clad covered portico and a sumptuous Moroccan daybed. Through another set of French doors, the suite also enjoys direct access to the hotel’s exclusive Mediterranean courtyard, dotted with sun lounges and citrus trees.
Melograno Garden Suite
Named after the ubiquitous pomegranate whose travels, history and symbolism have been perpetuated throughout the Mediterranean, Il Melograno offers calm repose to any traveler where the inner spirit can be reborn and thrive.
The well-appointed suite, with high beamed ceilings, features an intricately carved four-poster bed and Baroque-style furniture where guests can unfurl in front of the fireplace. Immediately adjacent to the bed are double glass-paned doors opening onto a freestanding slipper bath to create a sense of light and flow throughout.
To the west are two sets of double French doors leading out to a private garden and an outdoor seating area beside a second external open fireplace. Here, guests can inhale the aroma of citrus plants while unwinding on the sun lounges, letting the silence sink in.
Rosmarino Garden Suite

The fireside ruby-red chaise lounge and sitting chairs offer another opportunity to let the gentle embrace of the silence bring you complete relaxation in this private garden suite.
Through the French doors of the suite, the secluded patio and private garden offers another opportunity to reflect either nestled in front of the outdoor fireplace or in glorious repose within the Moroccan day bed in the heart of the garden, fully enclosed with trees, hedges, bushes, foliage and fields beyond.
The garden can further be viewed from the privacy of the bathroom’s slipper clawed bath looking out of French doors towards the verdant scene, the perfume of the countryside intoxicating every sense.

With its exposed stone walls, flagstone floors, carved wooden furniture and rich upholstery, the corner suite exudes all things real. Whether it be gazing at the fire from the red velvet chaise lounge or soaking in the clawed bath reflecting upon its chandelier above, the suite delivers the opportunity of authentic repose.
Outside the double French doors of this suite, the covered terrace and private garden provide a contained sanctuary of their own, with a lounge suite pulled up snugly to an open fireplace, an outdoor breakfast table and a well-crafted Moroccan day bed offering a cushioned haven in the midst of the garden.
