Grand Hotel Cocumella

  • 37 Rooms, 8 Suites

A place in the myth, where every spot has a story to tell or a secret to reveal to the lucky few.... An island of peace and beauty in the heart of the Sorrento Peninsula on the Amalfi Coast. A garden overlooking the sea in Sorrento. An ancient residence that throughout the centuries has been the destination of many travelers from all over the world. The first five-star luxury hotel on the Coast of the Mermaids, a shelter beloved by artists, scientists, statesmen and nobles, welcomes you in an embrace of history and timeless legends, splendor and Mediterranean scents.

The rooms at La Cocumella are all different. It’s here that prestigious guests like the writer Hans Christian Andersen stayed, with Sorrento considered as a necessary step during his journey in Italy. The atmosphere of the ancient Jesuit residence, its discreet and quiet interior, mingles with the Mediterranean style and the standards of contemporary hospitality, ensuring you have a unique stay.

The gourmet cuisine is eclectic and varied with different choices of restaurants. Without leaving out the rich tradition of the territory, it keeps an eye on new sparks in order to offer you an experience with varied dimensions. All three Cocumella restaurants rely only on the most excellent raw material, coming from its organic vegetable garden too.

Among the most rare proofs of ancient North European maritime art, "Vera" is now one of the most exclusive and ancient ships sailing the Mediterranean and belonging to La Cocumella. "Vera" is at guests' disposal for day tours in the Bay of Naples, to Capri and along the Amalfi Coast, or it can be rented for short cruises and events.

La Cocumella is one-of-a-kind. In an instant, time will lose the connotation of urgency and the everyday groove will be a vague memory. You will discover a new time-dimension, closer to the natural beat, closer to self-care. So the imperative is one: let yourself be brushed by time. "In the morning, nothing can be cooler than the sand in the shade of the rocks….” Mary Shelley said that to describe the beach Cocumella, where he was a regular guest with his life partner, the great English poet Percy Bysshe.

The semi-Olympic swimming pool is the ideal place for a relaxing break in the shade of our orange trees. Following the boulevards of the garden, in a hidden corner, you arrive at the hotel gym and the nearby spa.
